We recently had the pleasure of speaking with Chanell Quire, Associate at Knight Frank Hampstead. Chanell shared insights into her professional journey, including her impactful internship with Sotheby's Realty in Milan, and discussed what sets Hampstead apart from other areas of London.

Can you tell us a bit about your role as an Associate at the Hampstead office of Knight Frank?

Since transitioning over from our South Kensington office to Hampstead, my role is to continue to build relationships with both buyers and sellers, servicing their property needs up to £3,500,000. Hampstead is not only a hotspot for locals, families, and celebrities, but also to internationals looking to secure their London home here. My role is to offer tailored advice to assist people with their individual motivations and make their move as seamless as possible.

What attracted you to the real estate industry, and how did you start your career with Knight Frank?

I have always been fascinated by how people design their homes and create their very own sanctuaries. Every home is different; from its architecture to its finer details, stepping into each tells its own story about the people who live in it. When I left university, I had an internship with Sotheby’s Realty in Milan and very quickly got to appreciate the juxtaposition between design and property. Later, I moved to Dubai to continue to work as a Luxury Real Estate Broker, working with HNWIs. Four years after that, I moved back to London and have been an Associate with Knight Frank since 2019.

What makes the Hampstead area unique compared to other parts of London?

Sought after for its expansive open spaces, Hampstead has the Heath, offering over 800 acres of lush greenery, iconic bathing ponds, and some of the most spectacular city views. The vibrant High Street and quaint, historic lanes, house over 75 blue plaques, celebrating the area’s rich history and its charm to celebrities and families alike. With it being only 5.5km from the city, Hampstead is a desired hotspot if you are looking for the best of both worlds.

From your perspective, what are the key benefits of collaborating with Knight Frank Interiors for both you and your clients?

I spend someone’s entire journey with them, whether they are acquiring or selling their property. It’s incredible to see how much time goes into it from the conveyancing process, to finally receiving the keys before having to organise the move and make decisions on furnishings. It makes logical sense to offer a final, in-house service that is seamless, where we can help assist someone making their home a home.

You recently referred a property at Arkwright Road to Knight Frank Interiors, which turned out to be a great referral. What feedback did you receive from the property owner after the collaboration with Knight Frank Interiors?

My client was thrilled that we essentially acted as a one-stop-shop. She worked long hours and had little time, so required us to handle what is typically a stressful process for some, as seamlessly as possible and trusted us in her times of absence. She felt KFI listened to her personal tastes with how she envisioned her new home to be and was delighted with what they delivered.

What do you enjoy most about your role and the real estate industry as a whole?
Are there any challenges that you find particularly rewarding to overcome?

I enjoy the diversity of the role. Every day is a different day as you deal with different people with different motivations and personal circumstances. I am fortunate enough to see some incredible homes and meet people from all walks of life along the way.

I am passionate about what I do, and I suppose like all things, there will be times where situations don’t go the way we plan, such as when a deal falls through. It’s rewarding that when these occasions infrequently arise, we can find a solution for the client or buyer and continue to hold their hand through to the end.

What advice would you give to someone looking to start a career in real estate, particularly in a dynamic and competitive market like Hampstead?

My advice is to build resilience. Without it, you will find this job very challenging. We are in an industry where contingencies may arise and it is important to not be disheartened by setbacks, it’s about bouncing back to provide the best service to the client. I think it is important to be your authentic self as people buy through the relationships they make, it’s much easier to have conversations when you aren’t trying to be someone else. There is a lot of competition in our local market, so this where you will stand out!
