Returning to our Partners in Property series, we caught up with Christopher Paxton, Head of Lettings in Knight Frank’s Canary Wharf office. We talk about the important of our relationship between Knight Frank Interiors & Knight Frank, as well as discussing Canary Wharf in all its glory.
What excites you about your role as Head of Canary Wharf Lettings at Knight Frank?
Everything! I still get the same buzz walking into my morning meetings as I did when I joined as a young(ish) negotiator back in 2009. The area’s growth has given me the opportunity to grow my career here at Knight Frank. Unlike other areas in London, Canary Wharf’s potential changes year on and year and will continue for years to come.
There are so many new property developments emerging in Canary Wharf, how do you make sure your client’s properties stand out from the crown in such a competitive environment?
It is all about presentation, not only the furnishings but how my team presents the apartment during an applicant’s first interaction with their potential home. Applicants no longer just want a property; they want to be guided and helped. Service is what makes our apartments different to other agents.
What do you love about the Canary Wharf development?
I love the growth and constant change that Canary Wharf developments have been exhibiting in recent years. Also, I love how built-up and modern Canary Wharf is, it’s a nice area built for leisure and business. There are loads of restaurants near each other, lots of social bars. It just a great place to go with friends, family, and colleagues.
In your view, what is Canary Wharf’s best hidden secret?
The best secret is Canary Wharf itself. Canary Wharf still has the reputation of being a quiet, soulless area but when people come here that reputation becomes a lost memory. I think this reputation is changing and people have realised in the last year. It’s becoming very busy! Canary Wharf also have some of the world’s biggest banks, financial institutions, and tech companies, making it the perfect place to buy and sell property for professionals.
How do you collaborate with our team at Knight Frank Interiors?
It’s all about keeping the relationship going and me having the trust that when I hand a client over to KFI that they will be getting the same service I would be offering, which they absolutely do!
What is a successful project you have referred to Knight Frank Interiors in the past?
My favourite would have to be 4805 Hobart! It’s such a great project. It’s sleek, stylish and is perfect for what a Canary Wharf professional would be looking for.
