Having recently completed an interior design project at the luxurious Park Hill Drive in Cobham, Surrey, we sat down for a chat with Jamie-Leigh Harvey, Knight Frank’s Associate & Head of Super Prime Lettings in the Home Counties. Jamie revealed all about what life is like working in the home counties and what she thinks makes a property let.
Can you tell us more about your role at Knight Frank?
I was heading up the Esher, Cobham & Weybridge Lettings Department, but I recently began a new role as Associate and Head of Super Prime Lettings for the Home Counties. This opportunity has been created to look after both landlords and tenants from £15,000pcm upwards. This is a unique offering in the home counties and mirrors the service offered by our London team.
The idea of this position is to give a more lateral view of the local super prime market, and as such improve both results and customer service as we will offer a sole point of contact across multiple areas. As part of our London Super Prime Team, I will ensure no stone is left unturned, as we will have both a local and London link to our pool of high-net-worth applicants and clients.
What excites you most about letting properties in the home counties?
I think it’s the sheer variance of the properties I get to deal with. I have worked in London, where you know that a certain street will all roughly be the same price dependant on whether the property has been extended or not.
Whereas here, I could look after a beautiful new 20,000 sq ft house in St Georges Hill or a Country Estate in Chobham. It comes with its challenges of course, but definitely makes the job more interesting and enjoyable.
How do you collaborate with our team at Knight Frank Interiors?
It’s brilliant to be able to call upon the talented team for help, whether it’s a home staging project like Park Hill Drive, or something as simple as helping with window treatments. They just make things easier which means we are able to assist landlords who are overseas or don’t have the time to coordinate these things themselves.
Interior Design Service
Whether it’s dressing a property with furniture or designing a fully styled project to create a lifestyle, like the award-winning Chelsea Waterfront. Our Interior Design service aims to respond to your individual needs both in style and budget, whilst seamlessly delivering you a truly elegant and luxury scheme.
What do you think helps let a property out?
It’s certainly the interiors. With lettings, tenants naturally aren’t able to change layouts or the look and feel of the property. You will always find that tenants will pay a premium for something turnkey and has the wow factor.
Do you love the country or the city?
Definitely the country! I worked in London for 10 years and it was great fun whilst I was young. I think there’s a perception that being an agent in the country is more relaxed and easier, but it couldn’t be more wrong - I have never worked harder. You also get the best of both worlds, interesting and varied days but work life balance with a short commute home.
