Natural, Earthy Finishes & Saturated Paints

Earlier this year Dulux released their colour of the year, Tranquil Dawn. Knight Frank Interiors have forecasted that this serene colour palette will continue well into 2021. Try using comforting and inviting shades which are delicate to the eye. This is achievable by including warm paints encompassing whites and ivories, creams and warm greys, or light timber, teak, patina, and matte tones to create more layers and a welcoming atmosphere.

Touches of this earthy finish can be seen in our bespoke interior design project, The Belvedere, especially within the master bedroom; where the colours chosen provided the space with an elegant, sumptuous feel. 

At one with nature, Biophilic Design

This year, we have spent a substantial amount indoors, which is plausibly predicted for 2021 too. According to the designers, most of Knight Frank Interiors' private clients have missed spending time outside. The designers forecast that the main focus in interiors will be on bringing the outside into our living spaces, making sure the air we breathe is fresh and full of oxygen. The connectivity to the natural environment through the use of nature has proven to lift moods and boost mindfulness.

As showcased in our Boscobel Place scheme, the running theme is centred around the idea of bringing the outside in, with an organic colour palette, original design features and ample foliage throughout. Hidden within the master suite is a secret garden, which houses a retractable glass roof, perfect for when summer returns. 

The Awareness and Desire for Craftsmanship

At Knight Frank Interiors' core, our team encourage craftsmanship and artisan-made heirlooms over quick-to-ship products that will be thrown away with the next design trend. However, the designers believe that with sustainable and ethical design becoming more than just a trend. In 2021, we'll see a continued increase in demand for these skilled craftsmen and producers' expertise. In turn, a more significant focus on pieces from a drive-able radius, making our homes more beautiful and reflecting the incredible talent within our communities and around our country.

With that said, Knight Frank Interiors are investing in the future. In 2021, we will direct our efforts on measures that will deliver the most significant impacts, aiming to continuously review and improve the studio's environmental performance with an emphasis on minimising any destructive ecological implications. During this year's annual Decorex event, Senior Interior Designer, Georgia-Rose Ford, joined a panel of industry experts to discuss how the influence on sustainability has impacted design and craft.
