This year, we saw a continuation of our homes playing a hybrid role between working and living, seeing new interior trends emerge to improve our health and well-being. Looking towards the new year, our homes will focus on sustainability, something we feel very passionate about here at Knight Frank Interiors, in both our award-winning interior designs and the way we run as a business. From restoring antiques into their former glory, to incorporating natural colour palettes, our designers at our London based studio, share their 3 interior trend predictions to help you prepare your home for 2022.

Create a Zen Environment

If you haven’t already, create a space of escapism by formulating a zone of relaxation in the corner of your home. To achieve this, opt for cool and neutral colours palettes, adding serenity and comfort to your interiors. In fact, Dulux’s Colour of the Year, ‘Blue Skies’, breathes life into any space. Take inspiration from the bedroom seen in our home staging project, Lowther Road, use comforting and inviting shades which are delicate to the eye, such as off-whites, ivories and warm greys. You can also complement your colour scheme through natural materials. Think light timber, teak, patina and matte tones used to create more layers and a welcoming atmosphere.

Add a Bespoke & Personalised Touch

Whether it’s using bespoke designed furniture, sourcing art pieces, or styling pieces such as sculptures, a trend the designers forecast for 2022 is an increased demand for personalisation and storytelling. When staging homes, it is imperative for our team to truly understand the characteristics and location of your property ensuring to reflect this in the final design. Gone are the days when mass-produced carbon-copy furniture pieces were on our wish lists. Instead, a design which reflects the homeowner, whether that be through minimalism, or bold and eclectic interiors, are now favoured when creating a home.

Bring the Outdoors In

A popular trend that is definitely here to stay is Biophilic Design, or as most of us know it as, “bringing the outdoors in”. The more the better we say! Our designers advise you to select plants of different heights and shapes, instantly creating a balanced arrangement. As seen throughout our Home Staging portfolios, not only do house plants keep the air we breathe fresh and full of oxygen, they are also the perfect way to enhance your organic colour palette.
